Adele’s full name is Adele Laurie Blue Ad-kins and she was born in Tottenham a district in North London from a mother that was just 18 years old. Her father abandoned the two women when Adele was two and so she was raised by her mother single-handedly. After graduating from a performing school she produced a first album called “19” that included hits such as “Chasing Pavements”. Her world success though arrived with her second album, “21”, written about the one that got away. The album was a darling both for the critics and the public. She won 6 Grammy Awards and, according to “The International Federation of Phonographic Industry”, “21” was, globally, the best-selling album of the past decade. Notably, it is the 4th best-selling album in UK history and the longest-running number-one album by a female artist in the US. After having had a child, Adele came back to the musical panorama with a soundtrack for the initial sequence of the Bond-movie “Skyfall”. The song, which shared the same title, gave Adele two more prestigious prizes: a Golden Globe and an Oscar. While backstage of the Oscar win she teased that she has plans to EGOT, i.e. to get an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. She suggested that she could do a TV special for her Emmy and maybe in the future write songs for a musical for the Tony.
