Emily Blunt and John Krasinski

Blunt and Krasinski met for the first time at a restaurant in Los Angeles, in 2008. A mutual friend introduced them and sparks flew right away. John was a big fan of Emily, especially her role in The Devil wears Prada, and revealed in an interview that the first thing he said to her was “I like you”. Emily had not seen The Office, the series he was starring in, but she was immediately taken by the fact that he made her laugh. The two tied the knot two years later in George Clooney’s villa on Lake Como and went on to have two daughters. They also decided to work together in A quiet place, a horror movie directed by Krasinski. Most people warned them that starring together in a movie could lead to a divorce but the experience just made them stronger. On working with his wife, Krasinski said: “I’ve always been the biggest fan of her, but not until you’re in the room when she does what she does do you know why she’s so phenomenal.” His wife instead, during her acceptance speech for an award she received for her role, said: “The entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly. You are a stunning filmmaker, I’m so lucky to be with you and to have done this film with you.” The movie was such a success that the studio asked the couple to do a sequel that will come out in 2021.

Blunt e Krasinski si sono incontrati per la prima volta in un ristorante a Los Angeles nel 2008. Un amico comune li ha presentati e la scintilla è scattata subito. John era un grande fan di Emily, specialmente del suo ruolo in Il Diavolo veste Prada e ha rivelato in un’intervista che la prima cosa che le ha detto è stata “Mi piaci”. Emily non aveva visto The Office, la serie in cui lui recitava ma è stata immediatamente colpita dal fatto che la facesse ridere. I due si sono sposati due anni dopo nella villa di George Clooney sul lago di Como e hanno avuto due figlie. Hanno anche deciso di lavorare insieme in Un posto tranquillo, un film horror diretto da Krasinski. Molte persone li avevano messi in guardia sul fatto che recitare insieme in un film potesse portarli al divorzio ma l’esperienza li ha resi più forti. Sul lavorare con sua moglie, Krasinski ha raccontato: “Sono sempre stato il suo più grande fan, ma fino a quando non ti trovi nella stanza quando lei fa quello che fa, non capisci perché lei è così fenomenale”. Sua moglie invece, nel discorso di accettazione di un premio ricevuto per il ruolo ha detto: “L’intera esperienza di fare questo con te ha completamente trafitto il mio cuore. Sei un regista sbalorditivo, sono così fortunata di stare con te e di aver fatto questo film con te”. Il film è stato un tale successo che lo studio ha chiesto alla coppia di fare un sequel che uscirà nel 2021.
